Friends,
Lausanne Collegiate School is an inseparable part of my life history and affection for the highest standards of education – that’s why I want to share the reasons I have included Lausanne in my estate plans.
Lausanne was my home most of each year that I was a boarding student in the 1960s. Two and one-half months in the summer and some of the holidays were the only times I was with my biological family; the rest of the time I was with my Lausanne friends: dormitory-living mates, day students, and teachers. I spent more time with my Lausanne "family" than I did with my own family at home in Florida and Oklahoma.
Those years, until I graduated from Lausanne in 1969, were formative for me in so many memorable ways. Of course, for any young woman, there are advances and developments that occur particularly from ages 13 to 17. But for me, the intellectual development, the eye-opening alarm of the US civil rights movement, the Vietnam War, social challenges to long-established customs, and the music, art, and film of the time filled lacunae and caused development as well as reassessment of ethics and morals, decorum and manners, and social acuity that would not have happened with such stentorian impact for me in another educational institution.
Over the last decade, I’ve had reasons to visit the school many times. I’m thrilled with the current state of Lausanne and with the fine administration which is taking us to a nonpareil position in international education! Lausanne supremely prepares each student for college and for life in a global environment. For that reason, I have generously included Lausanne Collegiate School in my Last Will and Testament and hope others will be so inclined!
